INTJ: The Mastermind
An independent strategist who sees the system behind the problem and redesigns it without asking permission.
Your standard reading
INTJs are analytical, future-oriented, and self-directed. They instinctively look for the structure underneath events, build long-range plans, and refine their ideas until they work. Competence matters deeply to them, in themselves and in others, and they have little patience for inefficiency, empty tradition, or social performance. They often appear reserved or blunt, but underneath is a rich inner world of models and visions that they pursue with real determination once committed.
Strengths
- Excellent long-range strategic planning
- Independent thinking that resists group pressure
- High standards for competence and continuous improvement
- Comfortable tackling complex, abstract problems alone
Blind spots
- Can come across as arrogant or dismissive of others' ideas
- Undervalues emotional information in decisions and relationships
- Impatient with people who need more process or reassurance
INTJ and INFJ
INTJs share the INFJ's Ni-led vision and love of depth, and the two often mistype as each other on logic-versus-feeling questions. The difference is the judging axis: INTJ runs Ni-Te (what works), INFJ runs Ni-Fe (who is affected). INTJs respect competence; INFJs read the room.
